FORGIVENESS

Jesus taught a new and radical doctrine. He taught things that cost him his life. No one then and no one now wants to hear His messages of love(of the spirit). The idea of forgiveness is totally against our basic nature. We want to hurt back, to strike back, to show them how it feels to hurt also.

There have many sermons preached about Jesus on the cross and his final request to the Father to forgive them for they know not what they do, but Jesus lived His sermons daily, and his examples showed us the way.

To forgive is to begin the process of healing old wounds for both parties. Jesus in His infinite judgement knew this. We tho hold onto our pain and refuse to obey His wishes, we are condemning ourselves as we do so.

We also want the other person to act first, let them ask me first then I will forgive them. No we should be first. I love my Jesus, I want to please Him, I want to obey Him- so I must act first.
