SAFETY TIPS

USE CAUTION WHEN RECEIVING EMAIL:

Do not click on email that has no subject, if you click(or double click) on it, it may open and activate any hidden viruses or trojans.

Do not click on email that is suspicious looking. If it seems to be from someone you know yet still looks suspicious, then leave it along temporarily and start a new email message to that person and ask them if they sent the other email to you, that way you are the one sending the message. If they say yes it was them then it is probably safe to click on the first one.

Do not click on email that seems to be from yourself or your own address. Hold shift key down then delete it. The shift key gets rid of it permanently.

Be careful who you get your free email service from, some are great and some are not.

PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER AND YOUR PRIVACY BY USING FIREWALL SOFTWARE:

Always have a good "firewall" active when using the internet. There are many really good firewalls programs. I personally do not like Windows XP built in firewall. It only partially protects you.

If you have limited knowledge of firewalls then you may want to use a simple one. Some of the simple firewalls protect you quietly in the background and only let you know when the bad guy was stopped. On the less than simple firewalls I have a tendacy to get in a hurry and click ok on some permissions that I should have checked no on.

I use Sensive Guard, it helps stop trojans and viruses . It protects me in the background and the only time I hear from it is when someone or something does the dirty, it promptly asks me what to do.

Firewalls do more than protect from the internet, they also protect against "back door" activity. Scum can come in on your computer and use it for illegal storage of some really bad stuff. Then different people could use your computer as if was their own and you would never know what was going on.

PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER AND YOUR PRIVACY BY USING ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE:

Antivirus software is also essential for safe guarding your computer and your privacy. There are many really good antivirus software programs. Go to my links page and you can find several.

Many antivirus programs catch not only viruses but trojans also.
Trojan comes from trojan horse. The story about how troops were smuggled in using the Trojan horse illustrates how scumbags sneak spy ware into your computer. This spyware can do things to you that only can be described as malicious and under handed.

Sometimes these scumware(trojans) get by your antivirus and firewall. That's when a program like "Spy-bot search and destroy" comes in handy. It is an anti-scumware program that can detect and/or destroy scumware on your computer.

USE CAUTION WHEN SHOPPING ONLINE:

Never give your social security number to anyone anytime, never.

Be careful about giving your date of birth, mother's maiden name, your full name, your address, telephone number, etc. All these can be used to trace your location and set you up for extortion, burlary,  abduction, etc.

When shopping online be sure to pick whom you want to shop with and do not let them pick you. Shopping online can be very helpful and convient when done with common sense and using due care.

CHAT ROOMS ETC:

Be careful, be careful, be careful!! There are many scams and many scammers, one is born every minute.  Remember there are millions of computers online. With that large a crowd you get plenty of selfish scum who only care about themselves.

If you even suspect anything at all, get out immediately, do not give them time to set you up.

They can and will mess your computer and you up in a NEW YORK MINUTE. They are selfish heartless scum waiting to hurt you and those you love, they care for no one except themselves.

If you suspect anything, change your chat name and if necessary change chat rooms or even lay off the chatrooms for awhile.
