My Father

How lonely he must have been

When mother passed away
but he kept us all together
He wanted it no other way.
The road was long and lonely
and the years passed slowly by,
but he wanted us with him
and on him we could always rely.
We didn't have the best in material things
but we always had something to eat.
I know he must have gotten awfully tired
but he never showed defeat.
There is no other man in all the world
who can fill my Father's shoe's,
If I had a choice and could choose a Father
He is still the Father I would choose.
