To me an illustration of what common sense is would be an old joke that tells about a man whose lug nuts lost off and his wheel came off his car as he was driving along. The car happenened to stop along side the fence at a Mental Hospital. A patient was standing there watching the whole scene unfold as the driver got out, looked at the hub resting on the ground and began to fret over what to do. The patient said to him "mister can I make a suggestion?" The man with the vehicle said "sure". So the patient said "take 1 lug nut off each of your other 3 wheels and put the wheel back on with them, until you can go and get some more". The driver said "hey man I thought patients in mental hospitals were supposed to be crazy". The patient said "I might be crazy, but I 'm not stupid". name withheld Common sense is not doing something just because someone else does.
